THE TOWN OF REIDVILLE WILL BE HOLDING A SPECIAL ELECTION:

August 11, 2009

The election will be a referendum for the following:

WHEREAS; pursuant to South Carolina Code of Laws, as amended, Section 5-15-30 a referendum approving the change of the election method must be submitted to the municipal electors for approval;

BE IT RESOLVED AND APPROVED THAT A CHANGE IN THE NON-PARISIAN ELECTIONS ORDINANCE ENACTED AUGUST 11,1997 AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 25 ENACTED JULY 10, 2000 AS THEY APPLY TO THE ELECTION METHOD AND PROCEDURE OF THE TOWN COUNCIL BE SUBMITTED TO THE MUNICIPAL ELECTORS FOR APPROVAL SUCH THAT THE ORDINANCE BE AMENDED TO PROVIDE THAT THE COUNCIL MEMBERS MUST BE RESIDENTS OF PARTICULAR WARDS OR DISTRICTS IN ORDER TO BE ELECTED WITH ONLY ONE COUNCIL MEMBER BEING ELECTED FROM EACH DISTRICT OR WARD; PROVIDED HOWEVER, THAT EACH COUNCIL MEMBER WILL STILL BE ELECTED BY THE ELECTROS OF THE MUNICIPALITY AT LARGE WITH SUCH ELECTIONS BEING HELD IN ODD CALENDAR YEARS

The polling for all precincts will be held at the Reidville Fire Department, 7450 Reidville Rd. Reidville, SC 29375. This will include Reidville School and Poplar Springs polling places. Citizens that are registered to vote in any of these precincts may vote in this election. The Polling place will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARADE

DECEMBER 12th, 2009 - 2:00 P.M.

ENTRY LINE UP BEGINS AT 12:00 P.M. AT THE REIDVILLE FIRE DEPARTMENT

ENTRY NUMBERS WILL NOT TO BE ISSUED

A Town Ordinance has been adopted that will not allow the throwing of candy or any type of material being distributed from a moving entry.  Each unit is encouraged to have someone designated to walk along side the road for distribution. 

 Parade route will begin at the Reidville Fire Department; continue onto Reidville Road east, turn onto Gaston Drive south, right onto Main Street west, right onto College north, left onto Pine Street west.  These roads and streets will be closed from 1:40 p.m. until the end of the parade.  Spartanburg County Deputy’s will be controlling the traffic.
